PLEASE do NOT send us information about service animals in pounds.  We do rescue animals but we do not run after ghosts.  Most of these emails you receive are hoaxes to get your personal information.  Then you send them on and it just continues to perpetuate the hoax.  One individual that sends these out is being sought by several state police agencies as they are not concerned with any animal but finding their next victum to rape and murder -- he has been convicted of this three times in the past.  When he caught and convicted again, he will not be released due to the "three strikes law" in several states.  AT PRESENT the dog is a yellow Labrador Retriever. This dog has been sent to me 5 times over the past two years.  I have downloaded the image each time and it is the same exact picture.  If the dog ever did exist, s/he has already been rescued or has long since been destroyed.  We feel as bad as you about the animals that are destroyed every day and this is why we have the rescue portion of our business.  However, if you still want to see if we will accept an animal YOU must:

1) call the pound the animal is in and make certain the animal really does need to be rescued

and

2) call us directly AFTER you have taken the animal from the pound.

We are a very small rescue and never allow the animal to be destroyed.  We cannot therefore afford to accept every animal.  It is not that we do not want to accept all comers, but we just do not have the room to do so.  Therefore, our board of directors have placed very strict guidelines on the animals we are able to accept.

If you're like me and like to search the web for information, please use the following search engine.  This will give money to our organization.  You will need to make this your standard search engine.  Each time you look for something through a search engine and click on the link that you are most interested in, StarLight Assistance Animal Academy & Training Center will be paid about 1/2 of the amount received by GoodSearch.  This is paid by the companies that are listed.  YOU do not have to pay anything for using this search engine.  It is a Yahoo search engine and works exactly the same as any others.  The only difference is you will need to put the complete name in the WHO DO YOU GOODSEARCH FOR? box.  You need to put the entire name StarLight Assistance Animal Academy & Training Center in the answer box and then click on VERIFY.

Please pass this section along to everyone that you know.  This is the easiest way for people to support us without spending any money.

Thanks, Cynthia

What do we do?
StarLight Assistance Animal Academy & Training Center enhances the lives of people with disabilities of the United States of America by providing highly-trained assistance animals
and ongoing support.
The school, located in Louisiana, is a school for Service Animals--cats, dogs, & miniature equine. Please see Service Animal FAQ's, Facility Animals and Companion Animals. We raise, train and provide service animals for disabled individuals through program trained animals. We also certify only--after your animal has passed the certification exam. We do not offer guide or psychiatric animals at this time.

How do we do it?
Through the support of our
volunteers!

StarLight Assistance Animal Academy & Training Center accepts individuals 6 years and over, depending on child's maturity. An adult (18 years and over) must apply for any individual legally a minor or unable to enter into a legal contract.  References given may NOT be family.  Use friends / individuals worked with / coaches, teachers, etc. / non-related neighbors.
